The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed another look from the film’s new trailer which is set to debut this weekend during DC FanDome. The virtual event is almost here and fans are getting excited to see what the new trailer will show.
Last year’s DC FanDome, The Batman teaser trailer sent fans on a frenzy and became one of the most viewed trailers on Youtube. You can see from fan reaction videos that The Batman revealed some pretty awesome footage convincing more fans that Robert Pattinson is worthy of the cape and cowl.
The Batman director’s take on Bruce Wayne and Gotham is different from every version that’s been on the screen. Pattinson’s Batman is much younger and brings this raw and more inexperienced Caped Crusader. His Batsuit looks even more tactical than Christian Bale’s, but less streamlined. Being in the early years of fighting Gotham’s criminal underworld means that Wayne may not have all the toys and gadgets we’ve seen in previous movies. No giant machine called Nightcrawler like Ben Affleck’s Batman or even Bale’s Tumbler.
But still, Batman looking over the city at sundown and the footage from the previous content are still enough to get fans excited. Just like its predecessors, Gotham always plays a big role. The Batman director knows that. During last year’s DC FanDome, Reeves explained how the terrain factors into this movie.
“It’s just as important as any of the Rogues Gallery,” Reeves began. “It’s sort of like the nature of what this place is, and the history of it is critically important to our story and one of the things that I really wanted to do because it is the center of the story – especially the history of corruption in the city. [That] was I wanted to present it in a way that was really fleshed out, I wanted it to feel like an American city you’d never been to. I mean other iterations… the Burton one had very, very, theatrical, beautiful sets – and Nolan had the version that he created in Batman Begins and that was… parts of Chicago and parts of Pittsburgh. And what we’re trying to do is create a version of it that you haven’t seen before.”
During an interview with Comicbook.com, Andy Serkis who plays Alfred in The Batman said this about the upcoming DC film, “I’ve been totally forbidden to speak about The Batman, of course,” Serkis explained. “But what I will say is that I’m pretty certain Matt Reeves, who is a very dear friend of mine and of course we’ve worked together on the Planet of the Apes movies, I know for a fact he’s making a pretty amazing picture. I really think it’s going to be special.”
Be on the lookout for The Batman trailer this weekend during DC FanDome on October 16th. The free virtual event starts at 10am PST.
