When Does DC’s Black Adam Start Streaming on HBO Max?
Black Adam will start streaming on HBO Max at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Friday, December 16. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Jungle Cruise) and the screenplay was written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshiryani.
DC’s Black Adam introduced Johnson to first comic-book superhero role as Teth-Adam — the anti-hero whose background was teased in 2019’s Shazam! This is the character’s live-action debut after only appearing in animated DC shows and movies like Young Justice. The movie grossed over $388 million at the box office at the end of its theatrical run but is considered a box office bomb because of its production cost close to $230 million. The film received mix-reviews.
DC’s Black Adam synopsis: “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
Black Adam’s cast also included Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone — all members of the Justice Society. Other cast members were Sahara Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu.
Dwayne Johnson served as producer along with Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia.
Superman Vs. Black Adam Teased
DC’s Black Adam featured a mid-credit scene that surely had audiences cheering as Henry Cavill’s Superman arrives to confront Black Adam. This seemed to have assured fans that Cavill would return as the Man of Steel, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case anymore. After DC Studios was formed, Cavill is no longer attached to any Superman project. The actor posted a touching message on his Instagram account about his meeting with DC Studios co-presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran about not returning as Superman.
