San Diego Comic-Con 2022 is finally back in full swing as the international pop-culture event is heading back to in-person attendance after a couple years of hosting virtual panels due to the pandemic. This year’s SDCC is expected to break some major news and we have details for every major panel happening including two of the year’s biggest fantasy projects — Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.
When Does San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Happen?
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 takes place Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24, 2022 with a special preview night on Wednesday, July 20. It will be the first full-scale in-person convention since 2019. SDCC 2022 lineup includes major panels from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC, HBO, Disney, Netflix and every other major company in the entertainment industry.
The biggest event for this year’s Comic-con will likely be Marvel’s return to Hall H. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will share new details on previously announced projects and, like with past years, may reveal a slate of projects that gives fans what Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future will look like.
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Major Panels Schedule:
SDCC Thursday, July 21
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Hall H)
Cast and crew is expected to discuss the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular DND tabletop RPG game. Stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Regé-Jean Page are expected to be in attendance.
Teen Wolf: The Movie (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Hall H)
Teen Wolf: The Movie, the upcoming feature-length adaptation from Paramount+, will be previewed in Hall H. The panel will feature Teen Wolf series creator Jeff Davis. Teen Wolf series actors Tyler Hoechlin and Tyler Posey will also be in attendance.
Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., Room 6BCF)
Marvel is expanding it animated slate and will offer the first look to Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The upcoming Disney+ animated series will kick off a weekend filled with Marvel news. The series will star Diamond White and Fred Tatasciore who are expected to join the panel alongside the show’s creative team.
Abbott Elementary (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Indigo Ballroom)
The Indigo Ballroom will feature the ABC hit Abbot Elementary. Star and creator Quinta Brunson will be joined by cast members yler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, William Stanford Davis, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Lisa Ann Walter and Abbott Elementary’s executive producers. The cast is expected to share details of making season one and maybe offer some hints about season 2.
Severance (3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Ballroom 20)
The Severance panel will feature series creator Dan Erickson along with cast members Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, and Dichen Lachman. They’ll be discussing the Apple TV+ show’s first season and maybe season 2 details following the news of the series’s renewal.
SDCC Friday, July 22
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Hall H)
One of the most anticipated shows this year is Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The Sand Diego Comic-Con 2022 Hall H panel will feature the cast along with showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne. The cast will likely shapre some additional details about the beginning of their journey into Middle-Earth during the Second Age.
Marvel Animation (11:45a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Hall H)
The Marvel Animation Hall H panel will share updates to Marvel’s What If…? series and its second season. Shows like X-Men ’97 and Marvel Zombies will also be discussed and department head Brad Winderbaum may provide some details on the upcoming animated shows.
The Walking Dead (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Hall H)
The Walking Dead Universe continues to grow and with final episodes of its flagship show The Walking Dead, which has lasted 11 season, is about to return to AMC. The San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel will feature the Final Season’s cast along with the show’s last trailer. The trailer will also reveal the premiere date of its final episodes on AMC and AMC+.
Paper Girls (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Ballroom 20)
Prime Video’s Paper Girls is an adaptation of a graphic novel about time travel. The SDCC panel will feature series co-creator Brian K. Vaugn and Cliff Chiang. They will be discussing their adaptation. Fans can catch a screening of Paper Girls at the Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero, Manchester Grand Hyatt before the show’s official debut July 29 on Prime Video.
BRZRKR (3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Hall H)
Another Hall H treat will be BRZRKR. Co-creators Keanu Reeves (yes that Keanu Reeves) and Matt Kindt are expected to attend the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel to discuss the comic book. They are also expected to discuss an upcoming feature adaptation that’s been reportedly in the works.
SDCC Saturday, July 23
Warner Bros. theatrical showcase (10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Hall H)
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 is set to have a big Saturday. To kick off the big day, DCEU films Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be in Hall H featuring the stars of the two movies including Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam) and Zachary Levi (Shazam!). Surprise guests are also expected to appear and perhaps DC will treat the audience with footage from the upcoming Aquaman sequel and The Flash. Though both of those films will not have a panel at the convention.
House of the Dragon (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Hall H)
HBO’s highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon is almost here. George R.R. Martin will be present at the Hall H panel alongside the vast majority of show’s cast and creative team. The cast and team is expected to discuss the series which focuses on the civil war between the Targaryen family during the height of their reign in Westeros. SDCC 2022 will also feature a House of the Dragon immersive experience for fans to enjoy.
Star Trek universe (12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., Hall H)
With the non-existence of theatrical Star Trek projects, Paramount has focused on their Star Trek TV shows. The Hall H panel will feature TV shows inside the Star Trek Universe including Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Cast and producers of all three shows are expected to be in attendance.
The Sandman (2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Hall H)
Netflix’s The Sandman will be in attendance in Hall H. The panel will feature the show’s stars and creative team to discuss the adaptation. The Sandman will debut on Netflix in August.
Marvel theatrical showcase (5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Hall H)
Marvel hasn’t attended San Diego Comic-Con since 2019 so this is most likely the most anticipated SDCC panel of the entire week. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is expected to share details about several upcoming projects including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and The Marvels. Feige could also surprise the audience with new projects for the MCU’s fifth phase and beyond.
SDCC Sunday, July 24
What We Do in the Shadows (1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., Hall H)
Hulu’s What We Do in the Shadows just debuted its fourth season on Hulu. The continues to be a hit among its fans. WWDITS is the only major panel on Sunday and is expected to feature the cast and creative team.
