Appearing alongside Ezra Miller’s Flash is Supergirl, who will be making her official DCEU debut. Thanks to The Flash director Andy Muschietti, we now have an idea of what her big screen costume will look like. Muschietti has been posting close-up images of the heroes appearing in the film. First, it was Michael Keaton’s Batman. Then not too long ago, Miller’s Flash showcasing an updated lightning logo. On Friday, the director shared the first look to Supergirl’s new suit.
Muschietti has stayed with his theme of zoomed in first-look images of the heroes’ suits and logos keeping the rest of the costume designs a mystery. Keaton’s Batman was the only image that added blood dripping on the Bat-logo. The Flash costume seems to have some kind of functionality as it has grooves from the suit incorporated into the logo.
Just like the Flash and Batman first-look images, Supergirl’s is also a close-up image of the suit and logo. You can see the detail of the suit, which almost resembles the pattern and fabric worn by Henry Cavill’s Superman. The suit looks like it’ll utilize a two-tone color scheme, with red on the shoulders and blue halfway down the chest and continues to the torso.
In The Flash, Supergirl will be portrayed by the young American actress Sasha Calle. Muschietti made the casting announcement last February by sharing a video call where they told Calle she got the part. Calle previously starred in the day-time soap opera, The Young and The Restless, where she received a her first Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series in 2020.
Calle will be the third actress to play a live-action version of Supergirl. Helen Slater was first to bring the female Kryptonian character to the big screen in 1984’s Supergirl. Melissa Benoist starred as the titular hero for six seasons on The CW show. Benoist’s Supergirl also crossed over to Arrowverse TV shows like The CW’s The Flash, but her time wearing the red cape is about to end after the sixth season.
There’s no further news on how big of a role Supergirl will have in The Flash. The DC film, which is reported to follow the Flashpoint storyline, already has two different versions of Batman. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are both confirmed to reprise their Batman/Bruce Wayne roles. There’s no telling how long and how much Calle’s Supergirl will be around in the DCEU.
Ezra Miller’s The Flash arrives in theaters November 4, 2022.
