The Flash won’t officially arrive to movie theaters until Nov. 4, 2022, but thankfully fans don’t need to wait 17 months for some intel. The movie, which stars Ezra Miller as the titular hero and Michael Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Wayne, draws inspiration from the popular DC Comics’ Flashpoint arc.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, it’s already been confirmed that Michael Keaton would reprise his role as Batman, which he played in the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie, and its sequel, Batman Returns, three years later. Another actor who played the iconic Dark Knight, Ben Affleck, is also set to appear.
The Flash is expected to disregard the events of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, focusing on the two movies that Keaton starred in, and the two that Affleck was part of.
In a new photo released by Warner Bros., the studio teases somewhat of a brutal destiny for Keaton’s version of the character, as it shows the unmistakable costume the actor wore in his previous Batman films with a suspicious bloodstain over the Bat symbol.
