When The Walking Dead introduced the Commonwealth last season, viewers saw the group’s military of white-armored solders in full force, never expecting that one of their faves would become a part of it. But a preview of the show’s upcoming episodes reveals that The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon himself will be part of the militia.
In a trailer for the Feb. 20 premiere of The Walking Dead: The Final Season Part 2, Norman Reedus’s Daryl is recruited and shown wearing the suit.
Commanded by General Mercer (Michael James Shaw), the Commonwealth soldiers fight for those living inside their grounds by defending them from the dead and other enemies. It appears as if Daryl is a working-class cadet to start off his “new” career, but odds are, he’s going to rise quickly through the ranks.
Carol (Melissa McBride) will also be assimilating into the Commonwealth with a new job, as Alexandria joins up with the larger group.
As we saw in the first part of Season 11, Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and Princess (Paola Lazaro) are living in the Commonwealth and working at the jobs best suited for their individual skill sets.
“It’s kind of mind-blowing where we’re going. We did the first 10 episodes kind of in one direction, and that involved Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) story mostly and us trying to deal with what’s going on with that as a group,” Reedus told ComicBook.com. “And then all of a sudden, we did a 180, and now it’s kind of like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory all of a sudden. It’s completely different. We’re all doing The Exorcist right now, all of our heads are spinning in a circle.”
Whether or not the Alexandrians and The Commonwealth get along still remains to be seen, but it’s a good bet that there will be some sort of power struggle between governor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) and Daryl and Maggie. Stay tuned!
