Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 5 just hit light speed. Regardless how fans feel about the show, you have to admit, that was some cool lightsaber duels and some crushing Jedi deaths.
The Acolyte Episode 5 SPOILERS BELOW
Episode 5 of The Acolyte titled “Night” continues last week’s more calming episode “Day” which ended in a cliffhanger that teased the power of the masked villain when he used the Force to push all the Jedi that were trying to bring Mae (Amandla Stenberg) into custody. The sci-fi mystery thriller finally answered some questions in episode 5.
The Acolyte Villain Revealed
In The Acolyte Episode 5, fans were treated with some intense and well-choreographed lightsaber duels, shocking deaths, and the revelation of the identity of Mae’s master—only known as “The Stranger” up to this point. Some viewers may have already guessed it, but I give the writers an E for effort for trying to conceal the master by having him hide in plain sight and acting as a quirky, shiftless drifter and supplier living carefree.
When The Stranger’s helmet was finally knocked off his head, it was revealed that it was Qimir (Manny Jacinto). The playful and charismatic demeanor he’s shown throughout the series crumbles as he unleashes his true power. Qimir reveals himself to be not just a Force user, but a terrifying Sith Lord. In a display of raw dark side power, he proceeds to cut a bloody swathe through the Jedi assembled to capture him and Mae.
The Acolyte Episode 5 Shocking Deaths
The Acolyte’s have been a mixed bag with some Star Wars loyalists feeling that the Disney+ series strays too far from Star Wars canon while others are more forgiving, but that doesn’t mean viewers won’t grow attached to some of the Jedi characters. The Acolyte’s fifth episode showcased some awesome and intense lightsaber duels. Qimir and Jecki’s (Dafne Keen) duel with Qimir was one of the highlights of the episode and unfortunately, also one of the lowlights.
Qimir’s acrobatic and fluid lightsaber skills proves him to be a powerful and well-trained Sith. Something that we haven’t seen since Darth Maul. Even the highly skilled Jedi Sol (Lee Jung-jae) and his Padawan Jecki Lon struggle against the Sith Lord’s ferocity. The fight culminates in a heartbreaking moment as Qimir kills Jecki before Sol’s eyes.
Mae and Osha Switch Places
The Acolyte episode 5 leaves more questions for viewers. Towards the end of the episode, Mae poses as Osha and leaves with Sol while Qimir finds Osha unconscious. Does Sol not sense that the Osha he is with is actually Mae? Or will it be up to Bazil, the Tynnan tracker, and his nose to expose Mae? What will Qimir do with Osha? Will he use her as bait to get Mae and Sol back? Fans will have to wait for the next episode.
Star Wars: The Acolyte’s episode 1 through 5 is now streaming on Disney+.
