The Suicide Squad trailer 2 is here, which was supposedly leaked online by its own cast. An unlisted Youtube video with the new trailer released online with the title The Suicide Squad – Early Access Trailer Do Not Share was leaked either accidentally or intentionally. Director James Gunn tweeted that some of the cast members released the trailer online earlier than scheduled.
A rep from Warner Bros. told Variety that The Suicide Squad trailer 2 “will start running in ads on YouTube starting at 5:00am PT [Tuesday] morning. This will be the only way to see the trailer until the trailer debuts widely via James Gunn later in the day.”
The Suicide Squad trailer 2 shows Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) using Bloodsport (Idris Elba) to recruit a new squad and to go on a mission to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory. As the trailer goes on, the band of misfits run into some obstacles like Starro, the telepathic, and giant starfish as big as buildings.
While the Marvel Studios and DC Extended Universe director has stated that his version of the task force of DC supervillains will be different, it won’t completely reboot David Ayer’s Suicide Squad from 2016. A few of the stars from the Ayer version will return including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag.
Joining Gunn’s Squad are John Cena as Peacemaker, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Alice Braga as Sul Soria, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2, Nathan Fillion as T.D.K., Mayling Ng as Mongal, Michael Rooker as Savant, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Peter Capaldi as Thinker, Sean Gunn as Weasel and Flula Borg as Javelin. Suicide Squad creator John Ostrander will also make an appearance as Dr. Fitzgibbon. There are rumors that Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has also been cast in an undisclosed role. Sylvester Stallone is the voice actor for King Shark.
James Gunn signed on for this film and a Peacemaker series for HBO Max. He will return to Marvel Studios to helm Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, which is set to release in theaters on May 23, 2023. The Suicide Squad will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021. Check out the Suicide Squad trailer 2 below.
