Just a day before DC FanDome, director Patty Jenkins released a new Wonder Woman 1984 poster with the golden eagle armor on our heroine, Diana Prince. This is the second collaboration between Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot, which follows their 2017 smash hit origin story. On Friday morning, Jenkins shared the new poster on Twitter. Check it out below.
“Many fun new things ahead,” Jenkins wrote in the tweet. “See you TOMORROW!! Who’s ready?”
Jenkins is referring to DC FanDome happening tomorrow, which kicks off the virtual experience with the Wonder Woman 1984 panel at 10 am Pacific Time. The sequel have some tone differences from the original. The most obvious is the time period, which takes place 70 years later. While talking to reporters on set of Wonder Woman 1984, Gal Gadot explains Diana will be in a very different situation.
“I think she’s very happy to be here, and I think she’s quite lonely,” said Gadot. She’s engaging with people, but she doesn’t have any close relationships — because it’s either she’s going to hurt them, at some point she’ll have to disappear,or she’s going to get hurt, because they’ll die and she won’t. I think she accepted [that] as fact. At her core, her calling is to be here and to help mankind to do good, and that’s exactly what she’s doing. But she’s still missing the one who was the love of her life. She never got to really explore the relationship. And that’s it. But she’s happy. She’s very happy.”
Wonder Woman became a success for Warner Bros. and set off Gal Gadot’s career even higher. Wonder Woman 1984 was expected to be a summer blockbuster until the release was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is now scheduled for October 2, 2020. Patty Jenkins comes back as director and co-writer. Chris Pine reprises his Steve Trevor role. Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live) and Pedro Pascal (Mandalorian and Game of Thrones) has also been cast for the film.
The new Wonder Woman 1984 poster along with previous WW84 posters have really used that 80s look and feel. Are you excited for the sequel? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
