That’s right—fans everywhere are ecstatic to hear Marvel’s announcement that Charlie Cox is to continue playing his iconic Matt Murdock, or Daredevil character, in upcoming MCU productions. Marvel Studios announced this news just weeks before the arrival of Spider-Man: No Way Home as part of the upcoming film’s press tour.
Charlie Cox Confirmed to Return as Matt Murdock in the MCU
Fans of the MCU are highly anticipatory for this film and are theorizing whether Daredevil may appear in the upcoming release. For those who don’t know, Charlie Cox has already made his acting presence as the lawyer Matt Murdock in the three-season series on Netflix known as Daredevil. Kevin Feige, main boss of Marvel Studios, was the one to officially confirm Charlie Cox’s returning status as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Fans couldn’t be happier, as most people were on board with the actor after his fantastic portrayal of the Netflix airing character. But the question remains—where and when will Daredevil show his glowing red eyes once more?
“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, that would be the actor playing Daredevil,” said Feige in a recent interview with CinemaBlend. “Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”
Daredevil Appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home
After these rather vague hints, rumors arose that Cox may be making his first MCU cinema appearance in this upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. But neither Feige nor Sony have made any official confirmations if Daredevil would appear in the film. Even Charlie Cox is choosing to play “coy”—afraid he could ruin a surprise Marvel reveal.
“I love how passionate the fans are and I feel very, very, very touched that so many of them have gone online and made their voices heard about the desire for me to come back…[but] I don’t want to say something that could potentially jeopardize those chances because the people high up at Marvel, maybe they see this stuff or hear what I say and maybe that influences,” said Cox.
Perhaps it’s smart for him to keep silent. Either way, fans don’t have long to wait for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is set to hit theaters December 17th. Once that airs, any Spidey-family theories about Matt Murdock will be confirmed immediately or stuck dead in a web! In the meantime, you can stream all three seasons of Daredevil on Netflix and prepare for any unseen surprises heading your way.
