Zack Snyder has revealed a scene with Superman wearing his black suit for the Justice League Cut that’s going to be shown on HBO Max. After all the “Release the Snyder Cut” commotion, we’ll finally see Snyder’s version of Justice League. This week wasn’t all about Comic-con@Home. There were other “virtual-cons” like Justice Con which is geared towards fans of Justice League. During Justice Con, Snyder made an appearance and showed an official clip for his cut of Justice League-previously finished by Avengers and Avengers Age of Ultron director, Joss Whedon. The clip shows Superman landing on Wayne’s property and walking up to Jeremy Irons’ Alfred who is shown working on a car. The DCEU Alfred is a little more hands-on than previous movie iterations. See the clip below.
The Recovery Suit (also called Solar or Regeneration suit) was first seen in his resurrection in 1992 after The Death of Superman storyline. We’re finally going to see a live-action version with the Snyder Cut coming soon to HBO Max. In a recent interview with Beyond The Trailer, Snyder explained why seeing the version in his cut of Justice League is the pinnacle of the character.
“I love the idea of Superman going on a journey with his character,” Snyder explained. “I love the idea of Superman having to reconcile his morality, reconcile his place on Earth, reconcile love affair with Lois and how that affects the way he relates to humanity and all those things as we all do with the normal relationships we all have in our daily lives. So I think that when you see Superman grapple with those things, he becomes a lot more relatable.
“When I see Superman having to figure out what to do, I now can go like, ‘Wow, if I was Superman…’ Superman is such an abstract character, in his powers and what he’s able to do. Anytime you can bring him back down to Earth, he becomes a lot more relatable, and for that he’s more interesting. A huge respect for his moral code, and I think his ultimate place as the top of the pyramid of the DC superhero world. In the end he has to achieve that pinnacle.”
The Snyder Cut is definitely creating a lot of anticipation and excitement for DC fans so maybe there is some “hope” for the DCEU. CW’s Flash introducing the multiverse was actually pretty cool. Especially with Ezra Miller showing up. Then we have Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman along with other Batmen. It’s perfect timing for the DCEU while other cinematic universes are cooling down…for the moment.
