FX’s What We Do in the Shadows found some surprising—yet well deserved!—love at the Emmy’s this year, with eight nominations. The cast and crew of the hit mockumentary by Taika Waititi gathered virtually for NYCC’s (New York Comic-Con) Metaverse to discuss the upcoming Season 3 and revealed some favorite moments from the past and gave a few sneak peaks at what’s ahead.
According to SyFy.com, those on hand included Matt Berry (Lazslo), Kayvan Novak (Nandor), Natasia Demetriou (Nadja), Harvey Guillén (Guillermo) and Mark Proksch (Colin Robinson), as well as co-showrunners Paul Simms and Stefani Robinson.
Looking back at Season 2, Berry and Demetriou reminisced about filming their musical act and revealed there was an ad-libbed scene that wasn’t shown where Colin Robinson came up to sing! But fans who feel they missed out will be happy to know that the energy vampire will be showing his gift of song in the upcoming season of What We Do in the Shadows.
COVID-19 has delayed filming so far, but stories are set and Simms hinted at a few more tidbits to come, including a vampire road trip, a peek into Nandor’s love life, and the reveal of a few new creatures. Also, Colin is going to have what Simms called “a big important birthday” that’s not to be missed.
There was also talk about some of the characters who might be returning, as the show is known for always having interesting guest stars. One who will definitely factor in to the story is the vampires’ neighbor Shawn, played by Anthony Atamanuik.
During the New York Comic Con panel, the actors also discussed some of the ways they imagined their characters living through the pandemic.
“Colin Robinson would be a no-masker, for obvious reasons,” Proksch said, claiming he would be getting into arguments and arguing about his constitutional rights—“draining” people in the process.
