WandaVision episode 5 SPOILER WARNING:
If you’re one of the folks that woke up extra early to watch this Friday’s episode of WandaVision, then ignore the spoiler alert. If you haven’t, click away to another article — and stay away from social media. It’s flooding with episode 5 spoilers! Especially with the final scene. So, did WandaVision’s episode 5 shocking reveal at the end hint the start of the Marvel multiverse?
It may appear as though we’re seeing Evan Peters’s Quicksilver from X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, but we’re not quite sure yet. We are dealing with a faux sitcom show created by Wanda. At least that’s what we’ve been shown so far. And when Darcy said she “recast” Pietro, does that mean Wanda wanted to bring another person she lost back to life and pulled a “Pietro” from a different universe?
Still, there is no guarantee this is MCU’s way of starting an X-Men crossover. It could mean Marvel Studios is teasing us by using Peters to play Wanda’s twin brother, but not actually use him as X-Men’s Quicksilver. This still could be just another one of Wanda’s manipulation or perhaps based on her shocked reaction when she opened the door, someone else may still be pulling all the strings and it isn’t Wanda’s doing. Something strange is definitely happening here.
And could this be SWORD’s doing? Perhaps they sent in a guy inside the Hex at Westview to pretend to be Wanda’s brother, which happens to be Peters. Since Wanda is in a different reality, it’s possible they can trick her. It’s a long a stretch though.
If Peters is really the mutant Quicksilver that came from a multiverse, this opens up all kinds of doors for a mutant/X-Men crossover. It can also open up possibilities that villains like Mephisto and Nightmare have a hand in all this. It can also mean Doctor Strange is involved in bringing this version of Pietro from the multiverse to somehow help Wanda get through her denial.
Whether or not this is the X-Men crossover we’ve been waiting for in the MCU since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, this is all shaping up for Wanda’s involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Seeing Evan Peters was an exciting moment. No knock on Anthony Taylor-Johnson, but I think we can all agree Peters’s Quicksilver was more exciting to watch. This just makes the anticipation for the next episode even greater.
