With Disney+’s WandaVision taking on a classic American sitcom feel, it wasn’t too surprising to see Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) learn they were expecting twins in the second episode.
According to Comicbook.com, Elizabeth Olsen has stayed silent on the fate of her twins amidst rumors that they would eventually grow up to be Avengers.
“Oh, I think that they would welcome whoever they become,” the actress told ET Canada when asked if Wanda and Vision might want their twins to follow in their superhero footsteps. “Because they’re going to love their children unconditionally, regardless, and it would just allow them to become who they were destined to be.”
Comic fans know that the couple had twins—Billy and Tommy—in the popular The Vision and the Scarlet Witch Vol. 2 #12, though it would be revealed that the brothers are really magical constructs made real by Wanda’s powers, made possible by a deal with the devil.
However, the twins come back to life as Young Avengers Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Wiccan, and Tommy Shepherd, a.k.a. Speed, after Wanda reshapes reality into one based on wish fulfillment after the events of Avengers: Disassembled and House of M.
With rumors of a new MCU movie about the Young Avengers, which would include Wiccan and Speed, along with Iron Lad and the Kate Bishop Hawkeye, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that reality take shape in WandaVision in some way.
In previews for episode three, which airs this week, we see the Scarlet Witch transform the setting of the show from the black-and-white sitcom we’ve previously seen into a full color, 70’s-inspired Brady-Bunch type of setting, and the twins are part of that world.
Last episode ended with Wanda rejecting the reality that creeps into her world when a mysterious agent of S.W.O.R.D. appears dressed as a beekeeper. How that will impact Wanda’s state of mind going forward will be interesting to see.
