Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for some fresh content, and although Disney+ has thrown them some fun previews as to some of the shows being released in 2021, this week, the much anticipated WandaVision series finally airs.
On Jan. 15, the first two episodes will premiere—which is almost 18 months since the last Marvel film hit theaters.
As most know, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision, with both actors reprising their popular Marvel Cinematic Universe roles.
But it won’t just be Wanda and Vision crossing over from the MCU. The show co-stars some other actors who played memorable characters in some of the films.
Captain Marvel – Monica Rambeau (0lder version)
For instance, the character of Monica Rambeau, who was a child in Captain Marvel, will be on the show, only as an adult, now played by Teyonah Parris. Rumors are circulating that Monica’s role in the show will be tied to her varied comic book origins to SWORD, which fans will sure get a kick out of. Whether Monica finds her electromagnetically-charged powers by the end of the first season, or if she already has them, will be interesting to watch.
Thor and Thor: The Dark World – Darcy Lewis
Then there’s the character of Darcy Lewis, last seen in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, who will be part of Wanda’s world, with Kat Dennings returning to the role. From grumblings inside the Marvel studio, it appears Darcy has completed her university studies and is now a doctor. It’s expected she will play an important role in the story.
Ant-Man – Jimmy Choo
Then there’s Ant-Man’s Jimmy Choo. An FBI Agent assigned to monitor and also serve as Scott Lang’s parole officer. Randall Park adds his comedic and likable character to the WandaVision series. What he’ll be doing in the upcoming Disney+ series remains a mystery. We’ll find out soon enough.
And with so little known about the direction of the series or how the story will follow Wanda and Vision, there are chances for plenty of MCU favorites to pop up and get people ready for the next slate of Marvel Disney+ TV shows and movies planned in the years ahead.
