Spoiler Warning! WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau may be our next Marvel superhero.
In a previous episode, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) is told by Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) that the cells in her body are going through some changes since being pushed out from the hex by Wanda. In today’s episode, Monica goes against Darcy’s advice about not going back into the hex. She pushes herself through and as her eyes start to change colors, we can tell that she was transforming into something. Perhaps the next Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero.
After going through the hex’s barrier for the third time, Monica immediately sees a change. Marvel comics readers may know one of Monica Rambeau’s superhero identities is actually “Spectrum”. She seems to be able to see within different spectrums of West View while scanning her surroundings — seeing light waves on power lines and poles in West View. We even see her do a superhero landing (that will forever be a term started by Deadpool) after Wanda tries to kinetically push her away again.
In Marvel Comics, Rambeau is able to transform into and control different energy forms across all different “spectrums” in the universe including Gamma rays, X-rays, electricity, infrared and more. We already know that Parris’s Monica Rambeau will star in Captain Marvel 2 alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers. Does that mean we’ll see her full-on superhero identity then? And the fact that she is a Captain in rank gives us even more hints to her future in the MCU.
“Well, as you know, I was announced to be joining the cast of Captain Marvel 2 with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and the Kamala Khan character,” a tight-lipped Parris told ET Canada. “I do believe that we’re going to get more into that relationship, and what’s going on with those two.”
Captain Marvel 2 is set to debut in theaters on November 11, 2022.
