HBO Max and WarnerMedia released an exclusive clip of Peacemaker today. Fans got a sneak peek at actor and wrestler John Cena in his DC superhero series during a virtual launch event for the HBO Max streaming platform in Europe.
Peacemaker Clip Description
The last time we saw Christoper Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena) was laying in a hospital bed during a mid-credits scene in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Smith once again will put on the shiny toilet seat helmet and superhero suit. In the Peacemaker clip, he goes to what seems to be a diner to meet Amanda Waller’s team. He even has a bald eagle named “Eagley” in the back seat of his car.
The team, starring Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Chuckwudi Iwuji, denigrate the Peacemaker’s outfit. Agee who plays John Economos asks, “Did this dipshit really show up in full cosplay mode?”
The four of them continue to tease Peacemaker in the sneak peek about his pet eagle’s name. Last month, the cast and crew revealed details about The Suicide Squad spinoff.
James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and 2, The Suicide Squad), crossing between the MCU and DCEU, created the spin-off show for HBO Max. Gunn has written the series and directed multiple episodes including the Peacemaker pilot. So far the streaming platform has ordered eight episodes. Peter Safran serves as producer.
“Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero-supervillain-and world’s biggest douchebag,” Gunn said when the series was first announced. “I’m excited to expand ‘The Suicide Squad’ and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series. And of course, to be able to work again with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros. is the icing on the cake.”
Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max in January 2022. Check out the Peacemaker clip below.
