Thor: Love and Thunder tickets sales starts today with the film premiering in theaters in less than a month. Marvel fans will see Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder once again, but this time he won’t be alone. The fourth film in the Thor franchise features the largest cast for the solo film including Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, director Taika Waititi as Korg, the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster who becomes the Mighty Thor. However, Thor, Jane, Valkyrie and Korg may have their biggest competition courtesy of the newest Thor Love and Thunder star Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
Months leading up to Thor: Love and Thunder’s marketing campaign, fans were wondering about how the former Batman actor’s MCU debut and the way he would look as Gorr. The second trailer finally gave audiences a glimpse of the Thor Love and Thunder star in the vengeful antagonist role. From the Gorr scenes shown in the trailer, Bale didn’t disappoint.

Thor Cast Praises Christian Bale’s Gorr
In a video shared by Erik Davis of Fandango, director Taika Waititi revealed a couple details regarding the MCU’s Gorr the God Butcher.
“So I’d say he’s the most sympathetic villain they’ve had. He’s also tested the highest out of any villain that Marvel’s had.”
In Marvel Comics, Gorr the God Butcher honored the gods until his family all died tragic deaths. After trying to convince his people to reject their gods, he finds the Necrosword and goes on a crusade to kill the gods who failed him.
Here’s what Chris Hemsworth had to say about Bale and what the newest Thor Love and Thunder star brought to the villain.
“Exactly what you’d want, hope and expect. Nuance, complexity, depth. A sort of quirkiness to it which I didn’t see on the page and with any sort of classic villain. The fact that you find yourself empathizing, or asking questions that they’re asking, or the ideas that they’re posing. It’s not just stock standards sort of evil.
Tessa Thompson, Valkyrie, also shared her thoughts about Bale’s Gorr.
“Yeah, you like root for them sometimes. Hate him sometimes.”
