Chandler Riggs, best known for his nine-year-stint as Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead, has entered the hospitable for an unknown procedure.
The 21-year-old’s mom Gina reported that her son was hospitalized, for “minor surgery.”
The actor confirmed the news on Twitter, showing an image of himself in his hospital bed and posting the words, “We back!”
The photo showed what appeared to be a silver thermal blanket over his legs, numerous IVs in his right hand and arm, and a face mask—not surprising during the COVID era. However, he was mum on what was actually going on.
The reference of being “back” is because Riggs was hospitalized in 2019 after suffering a major concussion after being thrown from a horse. His mother revealed that injury on social media, as well.
Ever since, Riggs has dealt with the side effects from that injury, including memory loss and some physical problems. But things started to get better and he was acting again. He most recently appeared on the ABC drama, A Million Little Things, playing Patrick “PJ” Nelson.
Riggs also Tweeted that he’s been keeping himself busy while in the hospital this time around. “Buying more GME from my hospital bed today. can’t stop, wont stop, gamestop,” he wrote.
His mom is updating fans on the progress, Tweeting today that things are going well.
“I had no idea he posted this picture,” she posted. “For all of you who are worried, he had to have minor surgery but is in recovery now. I’m with him and he’s doing well. Thank you for your kind words and well wishes.”
With The Walking Dead heading towards its last season, and Rick expected back in the movies and possibly last season at some point, it would be great to see Riggs back as Carl as well—even if just in a dream.
