Fans of The Walking Dead aren’t shy about still expressing their opinions on the departure of Andrew Lincoln and his character Rick Grimes, even two years after the fact, as waiting for the movies that were supposed to follow the actor’s exit has taken much longer than anyone expected.
Those who follow both Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond have been treated to small bits of information about the group that apparently took Sheriff Grimes, with the latest spinoff even mentioning the place where he was supposedly taken after the helicopter took him away from Alexandria.
Annet Mahendru, who plays Huck on The Walking Dead: World Beyond recently spoke with Comicbook.com about the most recent episode and how the two-season limited series is expected to tie into the story of Rick Grimes.
“We’re the lead-up to the movies, so we’re going there,” Mahendru told the site. “All the questions fans have had for, I don’t know, inherently a decade, right? Our show is the answers to that. So we are very much heading to CRM. I mean, that’s the helicopter… We’re getting really close, you know?”
The most recent episode of the show was directed by Michael Cudlitz, who played Abraham on the mothership show. The episode focused on Huck’s military background and the choices she was forced to make at the beginning of the apocalypse—not much unlike Abraham himself.
“’This episode is sort of a foreshadow of how heavy and how spicy and just like hot it’s going to get,” Mahendru said. “If you like this episode, you will like the next episode, and the finale is going to be the explosion of all of it.”
The actress is hoping The Walking Dead: World Beyond shows more of Huck’s backstory in future episodes and looks forward to fans learning more about what Huck is made of.
