“You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts,” says Michael Keaton’s Batman in The Flash trailer #2. Those who are fans of the Keaton Batman franchise recognized the classic line from 1989’s Batman film.
Keaton’s last appearance as the Caped Crusader was in 1992’s Batman Returns. 31 years later, Keaton reprising the role in the upcoming Flash movie that will feature a popular DC multiverse comic book storyline where Barry Allen turns back time to save his mother, but the results weren’t what he expected.
Premiering Tuesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, The Flash trailer #2 opened with Keaton’s Bruce Wayne telling Barry Allen that the pain of losing his parents “made me who I am.”
“You actually did it,” Bruce tells Barry. This alludes to the story of the film where Barry travels back in time to save his parents, but in doing so, “broke the universe.”
The Flash trailer #2 reveals more of DC newcomer Sasha Calle as Supergirl as well as Michael Shannon reprising his 2013’s Man of Steel role as General Zod. There are also glimpses of Ben Affleck as Batman.
One of the highlights of the new Flash trailer was Keaton in his bat-suit, minus the cowl, delivering the line that was spoken in 1989’s Batman film when he was trying to act crazy in front of Jack Nicholson’s Joker.
“You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts!” Though in the 1989 film, Keaton delivers the line with a lot more ferocity.
The Flash trailer delivered lots of epic action from all its superheroes. At one point in the trailer, Keaton’s Batman, in an aerial sequence, faces Zod and narrowly escapes by ejecting from his Bat-jet (Batwing) then spreads his cape to glide through the sky.
The trailer ends with Batman telling both Barry’s they’re strapped to their parachutes. They ask where his is. Batman doesn’t answer and just drops down. The scene ends with Batman skydiving and behind him is the iconic shot of the Batwing in front the moon.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck. The DC and Warner Bros. film premieres in theaters June 16, 2023. You can watch The Flash trailer #2 below.
