The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: We’ll See A Different US Agent According To Showrunner

Falcon and the Winter Soldier US Agent will be different.

Malcolm Spellman, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner, talked to EW about seeing a different US Agent from the comic books. There has been a lot of mystery when it comes to US Agent aka John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and what kind of role he will have in the show, but long-time Marvel fans know he was first introduced as a supervillain, but eventually takes over as Captain America. He is someone who embodied patriotism in a way Steve Rogers didn’t. John Walker leans towards more of a patriotic villain. Not much US Agent has been shown in trailers. His back is the only thing that has been shown while he runs out onto a field in a stadium with fireworks in the background, but a new John Walker image surface online this morning.

Spellman recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly. “That character from the books, what he represents is extremely relevant,” Spellman explained. “We shifted away from the books a little bit, so we added some very, very different dimensions, especially once Wyatt got involved and started really inhabiting the character. But the spirit, all you’ve got to do is read Marvel comics and then imagine that we didn’t do half of what’s in the books. That’s my way of saying I can’t talk about Wyatt.”

EW also had the chance to talk with US Agent himself, Wyatt Russell. He spoke about what it’s like to play John Walker and working with Anthony Mackie (The Falcon/Sam Wilson) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes).

“He’s a complicated character. That’s what drew me to him,” Russell added. “It’ll be fun seeing how all three of these guys interact in terms of what their identity is. I think that I can safely say that it’s a show about identity and what it means to each specific person.”

See Wyatt Russell’s US Agent/John Walker tomorrow when The Falcon and The Soldier Soldier debuts on Disney+.
