The Book of Boba Fett episode 5 took a page from the Marvel universe, where their movies and TV shows crossover into each other. For The Book of Boba Fett show on Disney+, episode 5 took a detour from the title character to feature a familiar covered face or faces for the home stretch of season one.

Episode 4 ended with a tease as fans heard the familiar Mandalorian theme. Mando (voiced by Pedrol Pascal) did return for The Book of Boba Fett episode 5 during the opening action scene, getting a new ride, and engaging in a duel to keep the darksaber which he won at the end of The Mandalorian’s second season. At one point, he even had a give ALL his weapons to board a commercial transport.
While the Boba Fett character (now played by Temuera Morrison) was re-introduced within The Mandalorian series, episode 5 essentially confirmed that this is both a dedicated Boba Fett miniseries and in some respects, a Mandalorian crossover. It would lay down the ground work for a team-up in the final two chapters.
Until episode 5, The Book of Boba Fett has jumped between past and present, filling in what happened to Fett after his close encounter with death in Return of the Jedi when he fell into a sarlacc pit. The present has Boba Fett and Fennec Shand struggling to retain power they have claimed over Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine.
The creative team for The Mandalorian spin-off show certainly aren’t holding back when it comes to fan service. They are incorporating plenty of Star Wars creatures including Hutt, a Wookie gladiator and a rancor monster.
The Book of Boba Fett episode 5 was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard who also helmed episodes for The Mandalorian. Mando literally stole the show from Boba Fett and fans got so excited to see him that Grogu trended hoping they’ll see baby Yoda in the upcoming episodes.
