Fans of The Batman film don’t have to wait that much longer to watch Robert Pattinson as Gotham’s Dark Knight. According to HBO and HBO Max, The Batman streaming date and time has been confirmed. The DC film is set to stream next Monday, April 18 on HBO Max and Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET on HBO.

Robert Pattinson (Tenet, The Lighthouse) leads the ensemble cast for The Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. Matt Reeves directs the reboot of the Caped Crusader film taking over for Ben Affleck who was initially going to star and direct in his own Batman film set in the DC Extended Universe and Snyder-verse.

The Batman focuses on a younger version of Bruce Wayne as the Caped Crusader. He is in his second year of fighting crime in Gotham City. As he tries to uncover a deep web of corruption, Batman finds himself even more challenged when a serial killer, who calls himself the Riddler, starts to target Gotham’s elite citizens. The Riddler eventually targets Bruce Wayne in an attempt to expose a dark secret in the Wayne family’s past.

    Deleted Joker Scene

A few weeks after its theatrical release, The Batman trended even more when director Matt Reeves released a deleted scene online that featured Barry Keoghan as Joker with Batman asking him what he thought about the Riddler’s actions.

Following the release of the deleted Joker scene, Reeves spoke about the Joker’s backstory in an interview with Variety.

“It’s like Phantom of the Opera,” Reeves explained. “He has a congenital disease where he can’t stop smiling and it’s horrific. His face is half-covered through most of the film.”

“It’s not about some version where he falls into a vat of chemicals and his face is distorted, or what [Christopher] Nolan did, where there’s some mystery to how he got these scars carved into his face,” Reeves added. “What if this guy from birth had this disease and he was cursed? He had this smile that people stared at that was grotesque and terrifying. Even as a child, people looked at him with horror, and his response was to say, ‘Okay, so a joke was played on me,’ and this was his nihilistic take on the world.”

Here’s a description of The Batman movie: “When a killer targets Gotham City’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle, The Penguin, Carmine Falcone and The Riddler. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, The Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

The Batman is currently playing in theaters and will start streaming on HBO Max on April 18.
