Today, WB Studios confirmed the official runtime for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. The upcoming DC film, which flies into theaters only on March 4th, centers on Bruce Wayne’s earlier crime fighting days. Paul Dano plays The Riddler — a serial killer pursued by the Dark Knight. Zoë Kravitz plays Catwoman and an unrecognizable Colin Farrell plays the Penguin.
A few other fan sites have been discussing the film’s runtime, which was revealed as a result of The Batman getting a PG-13 rating. (Studios must deliver a locked cut of the film to the ratings board.) The official runtime for The Batman is 2 hours and 47 minutes. That’s not counting the credits.
Many recent movies have had a running time longer than two and half hours except for Sony and Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home which ran for 2 hours and 28 minutes.
For The Batman, Warner Bros. will have the film playing on multiple screens in theaters. As for Batman movies, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises ran for 2 hours and 44 minutes and The Dark Knight was 2 hours and 32 minutes.
No Time To Die, which clocked in at 2 hours and 43 minutes was the longest installment in the James Bond Franchise. West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg and Marvel’s Eternals were both 2 hours and 36 minutes. Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci was 2 hours and 38 minutes and The Last Duel was two hours and 32 minutes, which was also directed by Scott.
The Batman director Matt Reeves is known for making some long movies. War of the Planet of the Apes was 2 hours and 20 minutes, while its predecessor was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Fans should be happy to get a large dose of this new Batman, which the trailers have shown Reeve’s vision to be compared to David Fincher’s dark crime atmosphere of his movies. The Batman starring Robert Pattinson marks Reeves first movie since his Planet of the Apes movies, which started back in 2017.
The Batman also stars Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
