Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem just released its final trailer online this morning just days before the film premieres in theaters.
The trailer begins with Leonardo narrating a clip featuring the turtles. With a serious tone in his voice and clips of the turtles doing ninja things, it all looks like they’re training for a mission to retrieve… Go-gurt. Apparently, the scroll Leonardo is holding is a grocery list. Then the trailer quickly escalates into action.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is the latest movie in the long-running multimedia franchise consisting of tv cartoons, live-action films and action figures. Mutant Mayhem also serves as a new reboot for the four turtle brothers.
The animated film is produced by Seth Rogen who also lends his voice as Bebop. Rogen joins a huge voice cast which includes numerous celebrities such as yo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Jackie Chan as Splinter, John Cena as Rocksteady, Ice Cube as Superfly, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom. The turtles are voiced by Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael.
There’s plenty of hype for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Paramount is so confident about the film that they have already green lit a sequel to the film and also going forward with an animated series spinning off from this younger version of our turtle heroes. According to Variety, Nickelodeon CEO Brian Robbins was excited to talk about these new projects.
“In the nearly 40 years since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow,” the CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon wrote this week. “We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humor and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem premieres in theaters Wednesday, August 2. Check out the final trailer below.
