The new teaser trailer for The CW Superman & Lois trailer dropped this morning. Though it looks more like a concept art reel, it does seem to reveal the main theme of the show — balancing parenthood and the superhero life.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch as DC’s most popular power couple (pun may or may not have been intended). For those wondering if this would be just another rendition of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, the upcoming CW TV series has more layers to its theme. The show takes Clark and Lois back to Smallville where they’ll face their biggest challenge yet — raising two teenage boys.
The family leaves the big city life of Metropolis to settle back in Smallville where Clark and Lois will have to do a balancing act between defending Earth and raising their two teenage boys who may or may not have inherited their father’s powers.
Superman & Lois takes place after the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. After facing supervillains, monsters in Metropolis, and briefly fighting Brandon Routh’s (Superman Returns) Superman, Clark and Lois will come face to face with normal, but daunting pressures of normal life.
Then there’s the reunion with Clark’s first love, Lana Lang. Though Lana will be married with a daughter, some awkward moments are sure to happen. The Kent sons also become reacquainted with Lana’s rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarette/Wander Darkly).
All life may seem peaceful for the superhero family until a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks/All American) enters their lives. It’ll definitely be interesting to see the family challenges in Superman & Lois. How will the man of steel and Lois keep their marriage intact while parenting teenagers and keeping the citizens of Smallville safe?
The cast also includes Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck) as General Sam Lane, Emmanuel Chriqui (Entourage) as Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Lana’s husband, Adam Rayner as Morgan Edge, and Stacey Faber joining Wolé as the supervillain duo.
Superman & Lois flies into small screens in spring 2021. Maybe we’ll see more multiverse action and other superhero cameos. Hoechlin’s new Superman costume will also make its debut.
