Star Wars Visions on Disney+
Star Wars Visions is among the upcoming Star Wars Universe shows on Disney+. It’ll be an anthology style season.
“Lucasfilm is partnering with seven of the most talented anime studios in Japan to bring their signature style and unique vision of the Star Wars galaxy to this inspired new series,” James Waugh, executive producer and Lucasfilm Vice President, Franchise Content & Strategy, said in a statement. “Their stories showcase the full spectrum of bold storytelling found across Japanese animation; each told with a freshness and voice that expands our understanding of what a Star Wars story can be, and celebrates a galaxy that has been such an inspiration to so many visionary storytellers.”
Star Wars Visions will be told in nine episodes each with a different story and cast. English dubbed voices are Joseph, Gordon-Levitt, Lucy Liu, Bobby Moynihan, “Star Wars” vet Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and The Mandalorian), Neil Patrick Harris, Alison Brie (Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, David Harbour (Stranger Things and Black Widow), Jordan Fisher and more.
The animation studios behind the new Star Wars anime show are Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorado (Twin Engine), TRIGGER, Cinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production I.G.
A lot of the characters are new, but the show has some familiar scenery. The trailer gives a glimpse of the pod racing track on Tatooine, where young Anakin Skywalker won new parts that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn needed for their ship. (And also for his freedom).
Star Wars Visions joins other upcoming Star Wars projects like the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, The Book of Boba Fet, Andor, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron,Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and more.
Star Wars Visions premieres September 22, 2021 on Disney+. You can watch the full trailer below.
