The Peacemaker episode 4 trailer has landed and it reveals John Cena’s Christopher Smith and his team trying to save the world from an alien invasion. On Thursday, The Suicide Squad spinoff show premiered on HBO Max with the first three episodes. It’s also the first television series set within DC’s Extended Universe and so far it hasn’t disappointed.
Peacemaker, created by director James Gunn, centers on its titular character played by John Cena. He reprises his role from The Suicide Squad film — a soft reboot from Ayer’s version. Christopher Smith a.k.a. Peacemaker is a lethal hero obsessed with peace and is willing do to whatever to get it.
Peacemaker episode 1 picks up right after he emerges from a coma due to being shot in the neck by Bloodsport (Idris Elba). He’s given a new mission called Project Butterfly. John Cena is teamed up with Emilia Harcourt played by Jennifer Holland, John Economos played Steve Agee, Lent Adebayo played by Danielle Brooks), and team leader Clemson Murn played by Chukwudi Iwuji.
The Peacemaker episode 4 trailer reveals more details about the next chapter in the DC show. The episode keeps its crude sense of humor and is appropriately titled “The Choad Less Traveled.” The Peacemaker episode 4 trailer also features the self-proclaimed superhero, Vigilante played by Freddie Stroma. He apparently became an official member of the team in episode 3.
The promo serves as a preview for the events of next week’s Peacemaker episode as well as the rest of the season. Peacemaker visits his father, Auggie, who is also known as the white supremacist leader called White Dragon. Auggie was framed for the murder of a butterfly.
Judomaster (Njut Le) is also still alive after being beat with a tire iron by Economos. Details regarding Project Butterfly have mostly been kept a secret from Peacemaker and the audience, but the episode 4 trailer reveals the alien butterflies can use any lifeforms as a host.
Throughout the first three Peacemaker episodes, the original HBO Max show has managed to showcase James Gunn’s signature stylized violence and sense of humor. So far, it’s a worthy follow-up to his Suicide Squad film.
Peacemaker airs new episodes every Thursday on HBO Max.
