Star Wars Day started with a new trailer for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and now fans can be even more excited when the iconic Jedi master returns to the Star Wars Universe.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi role once held by Alec Guiness in Star Wars: A New Hope, Ewan McGregor was cast as the younger version of the character throughout the prequel trilogy. It’s been over 16 years since McGregor last appeared as Obi-Wan. Now, he’ll win over Star Wars fans once again as he reprises his role in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff series on Disney+.
After Luke’s mother, Padme died and Anakin turned to the Dark Side, newborn twins Luke and Leia were separated. Luke was sent to live with Uncle Owen (Edgarton) and Aunt Beru (Piesse) on Tatooine. Leia was sent to live on Alderran and was adopted by Senator Bail Organa.
“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun. I really enjoyed working with Deborah Chow, and I think it will not disappoint,” McGregor shared with Variety earlier this year. “The new technology that we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres May 27th on Disney+. You can catch a glimpse of the Obi-Wan Kenobi action in the new trailer below.
