Thor: Ragnarok was a departure from the first Thor films in terms of tone and style. They were more on the serious side with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finding his way to becoming worthy again and fighting some elves from outer space. With Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi brought more humor, fun and literally more color to the strongest Avenger’s franchise. And it worked. Waititi is the only director to helm two Thor films and now according to the witty and creative director, Thor: Love and Thunder is the craziest thing he’s ever done.
Thor: Love and Thunder Has Wrapped Production
Chris Hemsworth shared a celebratory image of him and Waititi as Thor: Love and Thunder wrapped production. Fans were shocked to see Thor’s new look. The director re-shared the image on his Instagram.
“And that’s a wrap on Thor: Love and Thunder,” Waititi captioned. “Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and [Chris Hemsworth] who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I don’t look cool I know that.”
Waititi then added, “This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honoured to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”
The directors comments resonate what he said back in 2019, when he called Thor: Love and Thunder a “brighter” and “bolder” film than Thor: Ragnarok, which is a film most fans consider one of Marvel’s most unique installments in the MCU.
“The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this adventure film, really. That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok, it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure,” Waititi told Entertainment Weekly in 2019. “There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger, bolder, and brighter. There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film.”
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to debut on May 6, 2022. The fourth movie in the Thor franchise also stars Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale as the Marvel film’s main villain.
