Ms. Marvel recently concluded on Disney+. While it did bring the story to a conclusion, many questions still linger. Not the least of which is what is happening with Kamala (Iman Vellani) and what exactly went down in that post-credit scene involving Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Deadline recently caught up with Ms. Marvel series creator Bisha K. Ali about what comes next for Kamran (Rish Shah) and Kareem (Aramis Knight).
Last time we saw Kamran was in the Ms. Marvel finale where he was being hunted by the DODC and managed to escape thanks to Kamala’s powers. We last saw him meeting with Kareem of the Red Daggers, a vigilante group he despises.
So what’s next for Kamran? Well, comic book lore dictates that he’s headed down a dark path. The show’s series creator, however, has a different plan for this complicated character.
In an interview with the Ms. Marvel series creator Bisha K. Ali via Deadline, Kamran will not be written so simple as just a villain:
“I will not write a young Muslim boy as a bad guy. But that’s not to say somebody else may want to take it in that direction in the future.”
And it seems like there are plans for the Red Daggers as well according to Ms. Marvel series creator, Ali.
“My intention was always that Kamala and her group of friends and the Red Daggers become his community. He and Kareem are Red Dagger. I see [Kareem and Kamran] almost becoming brothers in the future. So he does find a home here. I want to note that this is all Bisha canon and not Marvel so it all could change, but my intention was always that he finds a home here because of Kamala and all the people on the show.”
The Ms. Marvel series creator also brought up how she hopes that Marvel Studios will use the Red Daggers in another show or film. So it sounds as though we won’t be seeing them making a return in the Captain Marvel sequel. We may have to wait for another Ms. Marvel show or a similar project that has use for the Red Daggers.
All episodes of Ms. Marvel are currently playing on Disney+. The series concluded by citing that Ms. Marvel will return in the Captain Marvel sequel titled The Marvels.
