Before the footage is shown on the security monitors, Steven says to be prepared for something extraordinary. The footage, however, reveals that Steven cried and ran away, with no footage of the beast he encountered. Steven tries to stress he encountered a jackal but the guard doesn’t believe him.
After observing the whole footage, Steven watches himself come out of the bathroom. But it’s not him: it’s Marc. Marc stares into the camera coldly before walking off.
Moon Knight Episode 2: Steven Grant Loses Museum Job

He does stress, however, that Steven should seek help for his mental issues and recommends some doctors. The HR person tries to ask if Steven there is anyone else in his head and Steven tries to shrug off the question.
The HR person asks if Steven has any museum property on him. Steven says no and searches his pockets. He then realizes HR is referring to his name badge and he turns it over to HR, effectively firing him.
Steven goes to speak with the living statue and stresses his situation. While talking to himself, Steven believes the key to the storage locker he found may hold some answers. He thanks the statue and proceeds to the storage facility.
Steven arrives at the facility, the guy at the desk says he’s familiar with him (or Marc rather). Steven arrives at storage container 43 and opens it to find a bed, some boxes, and a duffle bag. He figures this must be where Marc has been staying.
Steven opens the duffle bag to find a pistol. He takes it out and continues searching, finding different types of currencies and a passport. He reads the passport with his face: Marc Spector.
He also finds the scarab he found in the Moon Knight premiere inside the bag. He then opens the scarab to reveal a hovering compass. It is then that the reflection of Marc in the shiny walls starts talking to him.
Steven Finds Out The Truth About Marc Spector
Marc tries to calm down Steven but he’s agitated by not understand the situation. Marc stresses that Steven is in danger and needs to let him take over. Steven, however, is not content to loan out his body after what previously happened to him.
Steven demands to know who Marc really is. Marc then reveals that he serves Khonshu as his avatar. He also states that Steven is in the same pact now.
Marc states its mission is to protect the innocent and deliver justice. Steven still doesn’t believe that he’s in contact with Khonshu, the god of the moon. Steven then starts having a panic attack.
Marc continues to stress that he needs Steven’s body to finish the job. An angered Steven says he’s going to turn himself in with hopes that he won’t hurt anyone else ever again. He exits the room with the bag while shouting at Marc that he’s going to get him out of his head.
Steven exits the room to a hallway where the lights start going out. He is then pursued by Khonshu who chases after him down the dark hallway. Once Khonshu corners Steven, he says in a darkly calm voice “Give it back, you fool.”
Steven Finds Out Marc Is Married
Steven flees the storage facility screaming. He runs out into traffic and a woman on a motorcycle stops in front of him. She looks at him and addresses him as Marc, asking where he has been, revealing she’s Layla.
Steven finally meets Layla in Moon Knight Episode 2. He gets a ride from Layla on her motorcycle as she chews him out. She brings up how worried she was about him and the danger he is in. Layla also stresses that she’s still Marc’s wife and that he should apologize.
A confused Steven asks if he’s married while Layla stresses that they’re free of whoever was chasing him and that he should drop the act. She also tells him to drop the English accent. Before Layla says she’s going to drop him off, Steven says he’ll tell her everything once they get to his apartment.
Steven lets Layla inside his apartment to show him how he lives. Marc appears in a reflection and says this was a big mistake. He tells Steven to get her out of there.
As Layla questions Steven’s house, she brings up his mother and asks if they’re talking again. Steven, trying to play it cool as Marc, says yes. He also showcases how he studies French and Egyptian culture. She notices he’s been looking at funeral rites.
Layla, however, can not buy Marc’s English accent. She then hands him divorce papers to sign. Steven, still trying to be Marc, says he’d never divorce him.
Layla is still confused and asks what’s going on. Steven tries to state that he’s not Marc and that Marc is a bit of a twit with his own life. He’s still not sure how to explain himself while Marc keeps shouting at him not to reveal what’s in the duffle bag.
Just as Steven is about to show her the scarab, Marc shouts that if Steven does this, she will die. Steven stops and considers Marc’s words. Despite stopping himself, Layla pushes past him and finds the scarab in his bag.
An angered Layla shouts at him for wanting to steal such an artifact from her. A cautious Steven says she can have it as he wants nothing to do with it. He then stresses how he’s not Marc Spector but Steven Grant, a very afraid man who fears he is in danger with Layla being the only one who can help him.
Layla asks once more if Steven doesn’t remember any of Marc’s life with her. Steven says he wishes he could. Their conversation is interrupted by a knock on the door by the police.
As Layla hides, Steven answers the door and admits he’s Steven Grant. The detectives ask if they can come in and then just barge their way in. While they search, Steven admits to the museum firing him and refusing to press charges.
The detectives question Steven’s artifact-looking gifts from the gift shop. As Layla hides just outside the window, the detectives stress how they’re looking for a stolen item. The detectives then find the passport of Marc Spector and question Steven about it.
They figure him to be a thief and take him into custody. A handcuffed Steven is referred to in the car as an international criminal. They then bring up his record of thievery and executions on heists.
Steven Grant Faces Arthur Again
The car stops in an alley and Steven asks why they’re not going to the police station. The detectives tell Steven to sit tight as they exit the vehicle. Steven spots a teenager outside and asks for help but she won’t, revealing the scale tattoo on her arm, signaling she’s a minion of Arthur (Ethan Hawke).
Marc appears in the reflection of the car window and once more asks Steven to relinquish his body to him. A frightened Steven questions Marc about his dark history and says he won’t grant him control. The door then opens and Steven is approached by Arthur.
Arthur unlocks the handcuffs and says he wants to chat with Steven after studying him. Arthur reveals that he’s aware of Steven, Marc, and Khonshu sharing the same body. He brings up how Steven is in a broken body and Steven disagrees.
Arthur brings up how he’s there to help him. At the same time, Khonshu appears behind Arthur and encourages Steven to kill him. A content Arthur tells Steven he doesn’t have to listen to such a spirit, that all he can do is mere parlor tricks with his powers.
Arthur then walks with Steven in his secret village as he reveals how he’s creating a cult that feels safe. As he speaks about people being fearful, he overlooks a gardener selling tomatoes and a woman playing soccer while speaking Mandarin. He speaks to them in a casual and friendly nature, stressing to Steven how they share knowledge.
Arthur then leads Steven to a temple where his people congregate, offering Steven something to eat. While getting food, Arthur brings up how Khonshu doesn’t have a strong moral conscience. The voice of Khonshu angrily shouts back in Steven’s head that Arthur has no conscience.
Arthur also brings up how Khonshu was a banished god who unjustly punishes people. Khonshu then argues he only punishes those who have already done harm. The god stresses that he’s real justice and Arthur asks Steven if that’s exactly what he is saying.
Curious, Steven questions if Arthur can hear Khonshu. Arthur says he can’t anymore but that he did once as his avatar. He speaks about how he was once the “fist of vengeance” and that Steven has now been forced into that title.
Steven, however, brings up how that’s more Marc’s department when it comes to superheroism. Arthur then brings up how Khonshu takes interest in evil beings and that his retributions come far too late. This plays back into how Arthur wants to stop evil before it starts.
Steven finds this himself skeptical but Arthur stresses the trust in the power of Ammit to stop evil. Their dinner takes an awkward turn when Arthur brings up finding the scarab. Everybody in the temple stops what they’re doing and then stares at Steven.
Arthur gives Steven some explanation about how the scarab is a compass for Ammit’s tomb. Once again, Arthur brings up how finding this tomb to work for Ammit will bring about great prosperity. Arthur then asks where the scarab is and Steven admits he doesn’t know.
As Arthur asks if Steven knows of somebody who might know the whereabouts of the artifact, Marc, through a reflection, says not to bring up Layla. Steven admits he doesn’t know anybody. Arthur then asks to speak to Marc and Marc refuses.
Arthur then speaks of how Khonshu is a liar and that there is never one last job. While Marc argues with Steven to turn over the body, Steven has a different idea. He questions that Ammit’s judgment may be passed prematurely on innocent people without proof of their evil.
Steven argues a thought can’t be evil. He then brings up how killing a child for something they may do 30 years from now is wrong. Arthur, however, argues for it, stressing that a cure can sometimes be a taste of the disease.
Trying to better make his point, Arthur compares rooting out evil to a diseased limb. A confounded Steven argues that a child is not a diseased limb and that it’s not comparable. Steven asks if all of Arthur’s followers are into it and they don’t answer.
With Steven unwilling to submit, Arthur then brings up his cane as a gift from Ammit to her first avatar. As the cane glows, Arthur talks about how it contains some of Ammit’s power. It’s a power he’s hoping he doesn’t have to use.
Arthur starts to corner Steven, demanding the scarab as the wind starts to blow. Layla then arrives on the scene with the scarab in her hands. Arthur demands she hands it over.
As Khonshu argues for Steven to fix this, Layla approaches Steven and tells him to summon the suit. Steven doesn’t know what she means but she keeps demanding he summons it. Unable to summon whatever it is she wanted, she gives Steven the scarab and the two flee Arthur’s cult.
Arthur then slams his cane into the ground and purple energy forms. As Layla fights her way through Arthur’s followers, Arthur starts speaking in Coptic as the purple energy increases. With his spell finished, the ground crumbles into a portal where a jackal’s hand ascends.
Steven and Layla escape to a warehouse, where a stressed Steven says how horrible it’s going to be to die in an evil magician’s mancave. Layla speaks to Steven and says that Marc is able to summon a suit that can help them. With the jackal banging on the door, Layla continues to draw out Marc from Steven’s body.
Marc keeps stating “Let me in” so he can become Moon Knight. A stressed Steven breaks down and begs to be left alone, stating he can’t summon the power she seeks. Layla says they’ll find another way.
As she searches for a way out, the jackal enters the room but Layla cannot see it. The jackal forces Steven out of a window. As he falls, Khonshu screams “Summon the suit!”
Steven Grant Summons Mr. Knight Suit
Before he hits the ground, Steven transforms into a masked version of Moon Knight but in a gray dress suit. He lands without much damage and looks at himself in the mirror. A confused Marc asks what they’re wearing.
Marc stresses the suit was meant to be ceremonial armor and not Psycho Colonel Sanders. A frustrated Stephen admits he doesn’t know how any of this works. As Steven searches for the scarab on his suit, he ends up finding baton weapons, just before he is tackled by the jackal.
Layla then catches up with Steven now in his Moon Knight form, surprised by how different he looks. As Steven battles a jackal only he can see, he tells Layla to stay back. Once Layla can see enough of the jackal she attempts to fight back but is not back into a wall.
Steven and Layla both attempt to fight the jackal but end up badly bruised. Marc stresses to let him take control but Steven says he can do this. Steven starts getting cocky and antagonizing the jackal, luring him into a punch.
Though Steven is shocked and proud of his punch, the jackal still fights back. Onlookers believe he’s a fancy drunk having an invisible fight. The fight then carries into traffic where Steven is slammed against a bus.
An injured Steven speaks with Marc in the bus’s reflection. A calm Marc convinces Steven to take control as more people will get hurt if he doesn’t stop this jackal fight now. Steven agrees and Marc takes over the body, becoming the hooded version of Moon Knight.
Using his two moon blades, Moon Knight draws the jackal to a rooftop, away from civilians. There’s a chase between roofs as the jackal is driven further and further away. Eventually, Moon Knight runs the jackal off a roof where he is impaled on a building.
With the jackal dead and evaporated, Marc transforms out of the Moon Knight outfit. He searches for the scarab but it’s not on him. He lost it during the fight.
The scarab is then found by a homeless man. That homeless man is approached by Arthur. He takes the scarab, judges the man, and kills him.
Layla watches Arthur takes the scarab and drives off on her motorcycle, realizing there’s nothing she can do. Meanwhile, at the fountain where the jackal was killed, Steven speaks to Marc from the inside of his body with great fear. Marc tries to walk him through how to get the hang of it.
A fearful Steven demands his body back but Marc won’t let him. Marc admits he’s grown stronger and has more control. An enraged Steven brings up how Marc has ruined his life.
A collected Marc stresses how he’ll leave Steven’s body once his last mission is complete. Steven, however, questions Marc’s actions which made him a terrible person who hurt others. Marc argues with his reflection of Steven until he smashes the glass.
Khonshu then approaches Marc and brings up how he has failed him. The god of the moon brings up how Marc works for him and should know that he’s nothing without him. Focused on the mission, Marc says he’ll find the scarab.
Khonshu brings up how Arthur now has it and Marc simply says he’ll beat him to Ammit’s tomb first. Khonshu agrees to this, offering Marc protection and stating how they need each other. Marc, however, says this is strictly business for his freedom.
Khonshu warns Marc, however, that Layla will be the next avatar if he fails. Khonshu’s cloak transitions Marc to a hotel room. Moon Knight episode 2 ends with Marc getting up and looking out on the view of Egypt, ready to find Ammit’s tomb.
