Marvel’s What If Episode 7 begins in the desert of New Mexico during the timeline of the first Thor movie. Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis are trying to track a mysterious being coming from the stars. Just as they get a reading and watch a mysterious glow descend from the skies, Jane remarks that it’s too late. She mentions the invasion has begun but the type of invasion they were expecting.
What If Episode 7 Spoilers Below
In Las Vegas, Party Thor and his fellow warriors land. Thor, obscured by smoke, announces he’s come to take over Earth. As the smoke clears, he clearly indicates he’s joking. Thor changes his announcement to a jovial declaration to party.
In What If episode 7, the Watcher, seen in the skies, speaks about how relationships can define a hero. He reveals that Odin didn’t adopt Loki and that Thor grew up an only child. This would shape him into a much different prince of Asgard.
On Asgard, Odin is sung to sleep as Thor and his mother Frigga observe. As Odin goes into a deep sleep, Frigga announces she’s going on a vacation. She leaves Thor to study up on Asgard lore and behave. Heimdall has been instructed to keep a close eye on him.
What If Episode 7: Thor Parties In Vegas
Thor, not content to read, convinces his fellow warriors to join him for a party on Earth. Cut back to the opening scene on Earth where Thor is partying with all manner of alien guests. Skurge is present as well.
Jane and Darcy arrive in Las Vegas to investigate. Having discovered that the first alien to arrive was Thor, Jane finds herself smitten. She decides to go talk to him but Darcy says it wouldn’t really count as the first contact. Darcy recommends she speak with Howard the Duck who bitterly refuses.
What If episode 7 continues as Thor chats with the Skrulls, Jane approaches him. Though Jane is initially perplexed by this alien creature being from Norse mythology, she has a more important topic. The destruction of a planet happened before Thor’s arrival. Thor, however, is not as interested in such a subject.
An ecstatic Thor redirects the conversation to talking Jane’s smarts. He manages to flirt with Jane who finds herself more attracted. Darcy, disgusted, decides to go get nachos with Howard.
Time passes as the party goes on in Las Vegas through a montage. Grandmaster holds a rave. Darcy and Howard get married. Thor and Jane get matching tattoos.
The next morning, Jane wakes up in a hotel room with a hangover. She’s awakened by both the phones and a knocking at the door. There’s a SHIELD agent, Brock Rumlow, at her door. Jane looks around to find a host of aliens drunkenly asleep in the room, including Thor is sleeping in a chair while Rocket is passed out in the sink.
She opens the door and is approached by Maria Hill, demanding that Jane come with them as they already have Darcy. Maria views Thor’s arrival as a threat and needs Jane’s help. Maria also reveals that she’s now the acting director of SHIELD after Nick Fury was knocked out at the party last night.
On SHIELD’s helicarrier, Jane and Darcy speak with Maria about Thor’s arrival. Agent Coulson interrupts them to announce that a party outbreak is happening all across the world. The party is being led by Thor. Jane, however, is more offended that Thor left without telling her.
Captain Marvel Challenges Thor
Brock Rumlow then enters to reveal SHIELD’s last resort to responding against aliens. The last resort, however, happens to be the beeper for summoning Captain Marvel. Maria activates the beeper.
Over in Paris, Thor finds that Loki and his frost giants have arrived. Though the mood initially seems tense, Thor and Loki are happy to see each other. They remark how they’re still good friends for being brothers despite growing up differently.
At that same moment, Captain Marvel lands in Paris. She demands that Thor clean up the mess he has left on Earth and depart. Thor, however, isn’t wild about the idea.
Fed up with Thor’s party attitude, Captain Marvel punches him. A fight breaks out as Thor begins wielding Mjolnir. Thor hits her so hard with his hammer he sends her all the way to Stonehenge.
Thor meets her there and an arrogant Thor decides to destroy Stonehenge. Angered at Thor’s disregard for Earth, she punches him so hard he is sent to America without Mjolnir.
Landing in the desert, the fight continues with Thor’s hammer against Marvel’s powers. As Captain Marvel starts winning, the fight takes to the skies. The battle leads into the clouds where thunder can be heard.
The two of them land and Thor holds Captain Marvel down with his hammer. Thor says she needs a timeout and leaves. The rest of the aliens declare Captain Marvel a party-pooper.
Back on the helicarrier, an angered Maria speaks with Captain Marvel about her defeat. Darcy and Jane are also present with Darcy becoming interested in Marvel having a cat.
Maria asks how Captain Marvel could be defeated when she’s so powerful. Marvel reveals that her powers are incredibly strong but she can’t risk destroying the planet if she uses too much of her energy.
Jane then gets a call from Thor. Though still in love, Jane tries to ask if Thor was responsible for the destruction of a planet. Thor says it was no big deal, that the planet was already dying and nobody got hurt. Jane ends the call by blurting out she loves him.
Maria and Captain Marvel discuss a part of the Earth that could withstand a bigger blast of Marvel’s powers to stop Thor. Maria recommends the Mohave while Captain Marvel suggests Siberia.
Jane, however, tries to argue that this is going too far. Maria, however, is done with Jane. She drops off Jane and Darcy in Las Vegas.
Jane tries calling Thor but only Loki answers. Loki attempts to ask if Jane has a friend so they can double date but Jane demands to speak with Thor. As Loki attempts to hand the phone over, however, his slippery fingers drop the phone and it breaks.
Darcy remarks that this situation would be easier if they could call Thor’s mother. Jane then gets an idea. If there is a Thor and a Loki, then there must be a Frigga.
What If episode 7’s chaos continues across the globe as aliens party too hard. Surtur attempts to make a pass at the Statue of Liberty. Frost giants deface Mount Rushmore.
Just as Thor prepares to slide down the Sydney Opera House, Captain Marvel stops him. She grabs him and drags him to a place where she plans to kill him.
Jane and Darcy attempt to contact Heimdall with their communication equipment. It doesn’t seem to work at first. Soon, however, Heimdall transports Jane with the Bifrost.
Captain Marvel drags Thor into the sky and sends him to a tundra. As Captain Marvel prepares for the killing blow with the power of a nuke, Maria readies SHIELD to arm the nukes. Coulson is initially confused but Maria states that it’s an extra dose of firepower.
With Heimdall’s help, Jane is transported to where Frigga is relaxing with her sisters. Jane is initially distracted by the wine Frigga is drinking but stays on target for her purpose.
Thor, still brazen, argues with Captain Marvel, saying she should lighten up and smile a little. Tension builds as Captain Marvel powers up, SHIELD readies nukes, and Jane tries to explain the situation to Frigga.
Before the world takes a hit, Frigga appears as a vision on Earth to confront Thor. Thor tries to play off his location as being Asgard but fails. He then tries to state it’s a cultural exchange. Playing along, Frigga says she’ll go to Earth and expects a report.
With Thor embarrassed, SHIELD stands down and Captain Marvel departs. Thor scrambles to clean up Earth before his mother arrives. He asks for Loki’s help but receives no assistance.
In fact, Thor receives help from nobody. The alien visitors depart without cleaning up their mess. Desperate, Thor uses his powers to stress to all the aliens that Frigga will be furious if Earth is a mess.
The aliens quickly band together to clean up their mess. Buildings are rebuilt and vandalism is repaired. Surtur puts back the arm of the Statue of Liberty and the ice is melted off Mount Rushmore.
Frigga arrives expecting the worst. What she finds is Thor teaching a group of aliens about Earth, complete with books and a chalkboard. Frigga still doubts Thor’s words.
Captain Marvel breaks the tension by arriving with a tablet full of Earth’s history. Marvel greets Frigga and Frigga expresses her relief for Marvel’s help. It seems that Thor is in the clear. When Thor calls his hammer, however, it is covered in color party favors.
In the desert, Thor arrives at Jane’s traveling lab with flowers. Thor, not use to courting, tries to express his love. After some stumbling of words, Jane agrees to a date.
Ultron and The Infinity Stones
The tale of What If episode 7 seems to have ended on a happy note. The Watcher narrates that Thor and Earth lived happily ever after. Before the credits can start, however, The Watcher remarks “Wait, what?”
A portal opens up in the desert. Thor is approached by Ultron robots. They’re being lead by an Ultron decorated in the Infinity Stones and with the face of Vision. The Watcher then remarks “Oh dear, I spoke too soon.”
Marvel’s What If…? is the first animated series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will probably continue with more seasons. Next for the MCU, is the Hawkeye show on Disney+ coming this November.
