ICYMI: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is introducing another powerful woman. Jane Foster is that next female hero and she will have some mighty powers. During a virtual interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Natalie Portman dropped some teasers regarding the next Thor film.
Thor: Love and Thunder will feature Portman as a female Thor. During the interview, she mentioned her take on the God of Thunder. “She does have powers. It’s not exactly the same as Thor. It’s her own version of it,” Portman said. “And she’s called ‘The Mighty Thor.'”
The fourth film is based on Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman’s Mighty comics run when Jane Foster becomes the heroic Lady Thor after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
For Natalie Portman, the MCU shifting towards spotlighting female characters is very exciting.
“I think people usually say how great it is for the girls, but it’s really important for the boys,” she continued. “For the boys to get to see women in those kinds of characters and in those kinds of personalities. It just expands opportunity for how we all see each other.”
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) are returning and The Dark Knight Trilogy’s Christian Bale jumps from DC to Marvel to play a mystery role.
Natalie Portman is currently working in Sydney, Australia preparing to shoot her mighty scenes. Thor: Love and Thunder is currently expected for a Feb. 11th, 2022 theatrical release. Taika Waititi is directing the film and also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
