On Wednesday, Jeremy Renner confirmed production started on the Disney+ Hawkeye show by tweeting a photo of Clint Barton’s set chair. He captioned the tweet “Ms Bishop… we need you!” Now that we know production is officially underway, more Clint Barton and Kate Bishop images on social media are popping up.
No confirmation from Disney or Marvel Studios regarding Hailee Steinfeld, but rumors of her playing Kate Bishop is hard to ignore. She’s holding a bow and arrow, dressed in purple and next to her is Lucky the Pizza Dog.
And these set images just gave us more excitement about the much-anticipated show. It seems the Disney+ show will adapt the Matt Fraction and David Aja Hawkeye comic run with Clint Barton training Kate Bishop. This will be Bishop’s introduction to the MCU.
“They’re both Hawkeyes in a way, right?” According to MCU producer Trinh Tran, who previously told ComicBook.com. “So you want to make sure… I’m always interested in introducing new characters. And now we have a fascinating young female who is very interested in this role. So you’re going to see a balance of both.”
The Hawkeye show will have Jeremy Renner reprising his Clint Barton role and presumably Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. Black Widow’s Florence Pugh is also joining the cast along with The Conjuring’s Vera Farmiga.
It’ll join the connected Disney+ and Marvel projects WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, Loki, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. The series will release sometime in 2021.
