Deadpool 3 Film Finally in the Works, Bob’s Burgers Writing Team Hired

Deadpool 3 finally in the works at Disney. Will keep R-rating. Bob's Burger's writers hired to pen script.

When Disney acquired Fox and its license for Marvel movies, the company announced right away it was planning to bring the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe it had created to join such icons as Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of the Avengers. Now, Deadpool 3 joins the MCU.

However, fans were concerned that the R-rating of the Deadpool films would mean that Disney wouldn’t be bringing the character back for a return visit, or at least tame him down to an unrecognizable figure.

Looks like the worry was for naught. According to Comicbook.com, Disney and Marvel Studios have plans in motion to bring Deadpool 3 to the screen, with Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, returning to produce and star.

Deadline confirmed the news and added the tidbit that sisters Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loegl, who are known for their cutting writing on the TV show Bob’s Burgers, will write the new movie. They also have a new series, The Great North, premiering on FOX next year, and the early reviews were so positive that it’s already been picked up for Season 2.

According to Deadline, the third film will keep the R-rating that fans have come to expect from the franchise, so Reynolds can continue finding fun with his foul mouth character, even without the writers of the first two films— Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, on board.

As of yet, no director has been named for the Deadpool 3. Tim Miller helmed the first blockbuster, but left before shooting of the second movie over creative differences. David Leitch took the reins for the second movie, but he’s become such an in-demand director, that his plate is pretty full for the foreseeable future.

Regardless of who comes on board to direct, fans must be happy that things are on the right path for seeing the “merc with a mouth” back in action sometime in the next two years.
