The Super Bowl had plenty of exciting commercials, but one that generated a lot of excitement was a teaser trailer for the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which is slated to bow on Amazon Prime on Sept. 2.

The trailer begins with a narrating asking, “What else is out there,” and given that very little has been revealed about the Second Age of Middle-earth., it’s very apropos.

Before the trailer dropped, Prime Video has been a little more open about the show, revealing some character names, showing cast images and hinting at what’s to come for those in Middle-earth during an expected time of war.

The epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but very little has been written about the 22-person cast, though it’s known that it will span multiple storylines throughout the Lord of the Rings of Power saga.

During the 60-second Super Bowl trailer, it gave glimpses into things such as Galadriel’s (Morfydd Clark) ascent up an ice-coated cliff, Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova), a silvan elf, grabbing a flying arrow with his bare hands, and a young Elrond (Robert Aramayo) leading a group, all the while reminding viewers that the new series will be bringing them back to Middle-earth.

We’re also introduced (or re-introduced) to characters such as Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), Khazad-dûm (Owain Arthur) and Disa (Sophia Nomvete).

For fans who grew up on the movies (and/or the books), that’s an exciting proposition, and the show promises to offer plenty of the things people love—the sweeping forests, grand palaces of the Elves, and the grand caves and caverns of the Dwarves—with all the serenity and dangers one would expect from a Lord of the Rings story.

Between now and September, expect a lot more information to come out and more looks at what’s to come.
