Loki Series Expected to Get Season 2

Marvel Studios made one thing clear early on when announcing its partnership with Disney+ for a collection of original TV shows based on its popular Marvel Cinematic Universe that would tie into what was happening in the films—the shows would be limited runs like the upcoming Loki series.

In fact, it was expected they would all run one season and about eight episodes—something that seems to hold true for the upcoming WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier shows, which are rumored to be one long-form story with a beginning, middle, and end.

But that might not be the case for all of the shows. According to Collider, writer Michael Waldron, who serves as showrunner on the much-anticipated Loki series with Tom Hiddleston as its star, is expected to be involved in some capacity of a Season 2 of the show. At least, that was part of his deal when being named as writer for the upcoming Kevin Feige Star Wars movie in development.

While nothing has been set in stone, this would be awesome news for fans of Loki and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general, as perhaps more of the Disney+ shows will last beyond just one season.

Early word on the Loki series is that the show is spectacular, and fans should be pleased. While the character did meet his demise in Avengers: Endgame, the Disney+ show will follow the version of Loki fans saw pick up the Tesseract during the events of The Avengers, when the heroes went back in time to collect the infinity stones during the epic Avengers: Endgame story.

That means that the adventures in the TV show will have taken place before his reconciliation in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, so Hiddleston will have lots of fun as his character travels through time and space looking for new adventures.

The Loki series is expected to arrive on Disney+ in May.
