Loki Season 2 is already in production. This will mark the first Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series to return for a second season. We can expect a few familiar faces to return such as Tom Hiddleston as the titular anti-hero and Owen Wilson as his sidekick Mobius. Hiddleston also confirmed the whole cast from season 1 will be back. Now, Loki Season 2 casting adds Rafael Casal.
This latest news came from Deadline which reported on the added star. Rafael Casal was previously seen in the sleeper hit film Blindspotting. But which role will Casal be playing? We don’t know for sure but rumors are currently swirling that he’ll be placed in the role of Zaniac. Zaniac was a character of the Thor comics who acts as a parasite that attaches to different host bodies, often taking the form of a swarm.
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will be directing Loki Season 2, having previously directed episodes of Marvel’s Moon Knight. They’ll be taking over where Kate Herron left off on season one. Eric Martin will be taking over writer duties while season one’s writer Michael Waldron will be acting as executive producer.
Waldron spoke of what we can expect from Loki Season 2, via Deadline:
“In creating the show in the first place, the only way it’s worth doing to me is that we can find a new story to tell with this character. It felt like we had new emotional ground to cover with Loki. That’s the only way into season 2. We absolutely found that. It’s a great continuation of that story that feels different from season one and hopefully will subvert expectations.”
No Loki Season 2 release date has currently been announced but it’s likely that we’ll hear something soon given all the recent news on the upcoming show.
Loki Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+.
