Disney and Lucasfilm released the official teaser trailer for Indiana Jones 5 and revealed the official title. The film is officially called Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
There’s not a whole lot of details regarding what the fifth movie in the franchise is about, but the adventure film sees the return of Harrison Ford as the iconic archaelogist Indiana Jones. Joining Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot), Toby Jones (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Oliver Richters (Black Widow), Ethann Isidore (Mortel) and Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore). There’s no word if Shia Labeouf, who played the son of Indiana in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will make an appearance in the film. James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari, Logan) directed the film.
Mangold, Ford, Waller-Bridge and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy first teased Indiana Jones 5 during Anaheim’s D23. Ford appeared very emotional saying, “I’m very proud to say that this one is fantastic, and this is one of the reasons,” before pointing to Waller-Bridge.
“Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they’re also about heart,” Ford continued, “and I’m really, really happy that we have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass.”
Ford also mentioned this would be his last Indiana Jones movie. “This is it,” added Ford. “I will not fall down for you again.”
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and James Mangold. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serve as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy film, returns as composer.
