The Guardians of the Galaxy have returned to what seems to be the final installment in director James Gunn’s franchise. Today, Marvel released the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer and it looks amazing while teasing some emotional moments between the members. It looks like we’ll get a bit of Rocket’s background story as well as the return of Gamora (Zoe Saldaña).
In the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer, viewers got to see the debut of the cosmic being Adam Warlock in his modernized golden look. The character, who was teased in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is played by Will Poulter who previously starred in The Maze Runner, Dopesick, Midsommer, and We’re The Millers. In the Marvel comic books, Adam Warlock is an all-powerful artificial being created to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, in the MCU, Chukwudi Iwuji’s character called the High Evolutionary will be the main villain.
The trailer starts with the Guardians landing on a planet that is inhabited by animal-themed aliens who would end up throwing rocks at the team who is now all wearing matching uniforms. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 looks like an emotional ending to the franchise as Star-Lord is still longing for Gamora and Rocket seems to be having some frightening flashbacks of his past while the team gets ready for their final mission.
“We’ll all fly away together… one last time… into the forever — that beautiful sky,” Rocket says ominously during action scenes of the Guardians. There’s also a shot of Adam Warlock beating down on Nebula.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer closes with Groot yelling, “We are Groot!” as he is shown with extra arms springing from his body and blasts lasers back-to-back with Star-Lord in a 360 camera shot.
The film will have familiar faces returning including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha. James Gunn returns to direct the final installment to the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
