Wonder Woman 3 is still happening over at the new DC Studios according to actor Gal Gadot. Last December, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins revealed she no longer will be developing a third film for the franchise. This was another indicator that the new DC Studios was totally resetting the DC Universe. That was until Gadot shared some big news to Comicbook.com during an interview prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Under the new DC Studios, which is led by the co-CEO duo, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the DC Extended Universe is currently transitioning to the DC Universe. Some big changes have already happened including the end Henry Cavill’s Superman and the start of David Corenswet’s time as the man of steel.
But there’s some good news for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman fans. According to Comicbook.com, Gunn and Safran both informed her they are developing a Wonder Woman 3 movie with her as the star.
Gal Gadot shared the breaking news while promoting her new Netflix film Heart of Stone.
“I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart,” Gadot said. “From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together,” the actor added.
Of course “hearing” something about a possible Wonder Woman 3 film is not a guarantee, but knowing that Gunn and Safran actually spoke to Gal Gadot about reprising the role gives some meaningful hope to fans who have enjoyed her take as Themyscira’s greatest hero for the Snyderverse.
Jason Momoa apparently is staying on as Aquaman. As much as The Flash film received mediocre reviews, mostly due to its bad special effects, Ezra Miller seems to be in good shape to return as Barry Allen. That just leaves the question of who will be playing Batman in the DCU. Gunn also announced that Blue Beetle will be the “first” DCU hero, even if the upcoming film isn not the first DCU movie.
Gal Gadot first played the character in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She went on to star in two Wonder Woman movies and in Justice League. Gadot had a cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and audiences last saw her during another short cameo in The Flash film.
