Those looking forward to seeing The Batman with Robert Pattinson are going to have to wait a big longer than planned.
According to Comicbook.com, Warner Bros. Pictures announced it was changing the release date for the upcoming caped crusader movie to March 4, 2022.
This will surely come as disappointing news to the millions of Fanboys and Fangirls who are excited to see how the former Twilight star will make the Dark Knight his own.
Originally, the movie was scheduled for release on June 25 of 2021, eventually moving to Oct. 1 of the same year after production delays caused by the pandemic. With Pattinson actually testing positive for COVID-19 last month, it only added to the problems.
Directed by Matt Reeves, who has helmed blockbusters such as Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War For the Planet of the Apes, The Batman will focus on Bruce Wayne learning how to be Batman, a story point he spoke about at DC FanDome earlier this year.
“The idea is that we’re in Year Two. It’s the Gotham experiment, it’s a criminal… experiment he’s trying to figure out what he can do that can finally change this place,” Reeves said at the convention. “In our story, he’s in that mode, that’s where you meet him, and you see that he is charting what he’s doing and it seems that he’s not having any of the effect that he wants to have yet and that is when the murders start to happen and then the murders begin to describe sort of the history of Gotham in a way that only reinforces what he knows about constant.”
The much-anticipated film also stars Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright Gotham police’s James Gordon and Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham district attorney Gil Colson.
The Batman with Robert Pattinson is sure to be worth the wait, but if you’re looking for your Batman fix, the iconic Death In The Family comic book story arc is now an animated feature film. It arrives on Blu-ray and digital Oct. 13. You can pre-order on Amazon here.
