With all the legal issues Ezra Miller has been facing this year, the DC actor’s The Flash movie is still a go and actually is headed to theaters earlier. It was announced that the DC film will now debut in theaters one week earlier than previously scheduled. According to THR, the film is set to premiere on June 16, 2023.
The Flash movie was set to open on June 23, 2023. It a move that gives the DC film more time in theaters before the premiere of another big blockbuster release — Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny — which releases in theaters June 30th. Though now, The Flash will be competing with Pixar’s Elemental.
This is good news for DC fans as the film’s release was in question after the legal issues with Ezra Miller. There has been a lot of anticipation for The Flash. There was a brief teaser released during 2021’s DC FanDome that gave audiences a tiny bit of an idea of what to expect. The DC film has been in the works for many years, but editor Paul Machliss says it’s worth the wait.
“It’s gonna be exciting,” Machliss recently told IBC. “I mean, Warners has charged us with making the best film we possibly can. What I can say is that we’re gonna be utilizing… We’re the first film to be utilizing some very, very new technology in terms of getting multiple versions of the same actor on the screen, rather than using either locked off cameras or even the motion controls we used in [Last Night in Soho]. There’s been a development with some wonderful technology, which I’d love to be able to talk about now, but this time next year once the film’s out, we can go into total, scrupulous detail. But that is very, very exciting and I’m very pleased to say that we’re the first, certainly on a film of this scale to utilize it. Probably why it’s taken so long to finish actually. But it’s worth the wait, because it looks fantastic.”

Barry Allen / The Flash (Ezra Miller) travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, but not without some consequences to his timeline. The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti and is written by Birds of Prey and Batgirl’s Christina Hodson. Starring with Miller are both Batman actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, and Ian Loh will play a young Barry Allen. Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso are playing currently unknown roles.
