While fans are salivating over the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, set to bow on Disney+ next year, titular star Ewan McGregor revealed some news that’s sure to get them even more excited. Joining McGregor in the show will be Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader and the return of the Stormtroopers!
As part of a recent Actors on Actors interview that Ewan McGregor did with The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal in Variety, the man behind Kenobi disclosed the big news about the Empire’s soldiers.
“I don’t think I’d be giving away a secret,” McGregor noted in the interview. “I’ve got to be so careful. There’s no secret to when this series is being set, but I had to walk past two Stormtroopers. I realized I’ve never acted with a Stormtrooper because mine were clones, you know? It was the clone army. So I’d never seen a Stormtrooper. So I was walking past them in this scene. I turned around — and I was 6 years old again.”
McGregor was very excited about the news he teased and relayed what the scene meant to him.
“Insane. I was feeling like I was 6 again or something because I’m so close to one and I got a fright, you know? So crazy,” he said. “Then I asked someone, ‘Were there Stormtroopers in my films? Because I don’t think I’ve seen a Stormtrooper for real before.’ They were like, ‘No, they weren’t Stormtroopers; they were clones.’ And Jawas, I had another scene with a little Jawa.”
According to Comicbook.com, Christensen hasn’t been shy about revealing his pleasure with being back in the role. In an interview with StarWars.com, the actor noted how incredible a journey it has been.
“Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all,” he said. “I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”
It’ll be very interesting to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen back in the Star Wars universe. Obi-Wan Kenobi series is set to debut sometime in 2022.
