When Marvel Studios releases Eternals in theaters on Nov. 5, a new collection of superheroes will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But in addition to the new names, there’s one character already known to comic book fans as a member of The Avengers. In Marvel’s Eternals, Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman, aka Black Knight, and apparently his appearance is just the beginning of what’s looking like a long future between the actor and the MCU.
The Eternals Star Kit Harington Talks About His Character in the Upcoming Marvel Film
The Eternals star has been coy about future involvement but has explained a bit about his character and what might happen in further movies.
“He’s not an Eternal. He’s a character who works with the Natural History Museum in London,” Harington told Total Film in a recent interview. “I’ve got no idea whether my character goes on or not. I had read up on who he could be, or might be. So there’s the possibility for a longer trajectory. And hopefully, I think this is the tip of the iceberg for my character. I hope.”
Many are speculating that the introduction of Whitman will just whet the appetite of fans and the story of Black Knight will be revealed either in another movie or perhaps on a Disney+ series in some way.
The Eternals boasts an all-star cast, which includes Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
For now, Kit Harington isn’t elaborating too much about what’s ahead, though that’s typical for Marvel actors and the gag orders they sign.
“I’m as in the dark as anyone else,” he said in his interview. “And I try not to live too far ahead in the future with anything. Even when I was in Game of Thrones, even on the sixth season, I presumed the seventh season wasn’t going to happen!”
One thing fans hope they do get to see is if a relationship blossom between Sersi and Dane, which is a favorite among comic readers. In two months, we will know the answer when Eternals and Kit Harington arrive on the big screen and maybe even early access on Disney+ on November 5th.
