Cobra Kai Season 5 release date is on September 9, 2022. The upcoming season of the hit Netflix martial arts show will see the return of another character from The Karate Kid films. Specifically Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) from The Karate Kid Part 3.
Cobra Kai’s “Bad Boy” Mike Barnes who Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) hired to terrorize Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in the third Karate Kid film is back for Cobra Kai Season 5. He is ready to fight once more.
In the new Mike Barnes Cobra Kai Season 5 image, he’s in full fighting mode in his all black formal clothes. Barnes was a major antagonist in The Karate Kid Part 3 alongside Silver. We can assume that they’ll be up to their old trick in Cobra Kai Season 5. What makes it kind of more exciting these time is potentially see two former Cobra Kai students fight each other — Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) vs. Mike Barnes.
Sean Kanan tweeted, “So excited to FINALLY announce that Mike Barnes will be a part of season 5! [Co-creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg] wrote me an awesome story. Can’t wait for you all to see it!”
At the end of Cobra Kai Season 4, we last saw Silver taking control of the Cobra Kai property from his former friend John Kreese (Martin Kove) who he also framed for assaulting Stingray (Paul Walter Hauser). Looks like Silver has brought in some backup against Johnny and Daniel.
The Cobra Kai Season 5 images also give a good look at the returning cast. Ralph Macchio’s Daniel, William Zabka’s Johnny, and Yuji Okumoto’s Chozen are standing together with some support. There’s an image with Peyton List’s Tory with her trophy. Courtney Henggeler’s Amanda looks to be having a serious meeting with Silver. There’s an image of newcomer Alicia Hannah-Kim as Kim Da-Eun. There’s also an image of Tanner Buchanan’s Robby Keane and Xolo Maridueña’s Miguel Diaz at what looks to be an intense meeting. Check out the images below.
