More characters from the Karate Kid franchise are joining the hit Netflix show Cobra Kai. This time, it’s The Karate Kid III baddie, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). Silver’s return was hinted during a back story episode for Kreese (Martin Kove). Now Netflix has confirmed his return for Cobra Kai’s season 4.
“Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe. That moment is now. We can’t wait for the whole world to experience Thomas Ian Griffith’s majestic return to the franchise,” said executive producers and writers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.
In the new teaser, Silver is seen with his back to the camera standing in dim lighting. Still sporting his pony tail from the third Karate Kid film, voiceovers in the background are heard saying, “If a man can’t stand, he can’t fight. If a man can’t breathe, he can’t fight. If a man can’t see, he can’t fight. Extreme situations require extreme measures.”
Cobra Kai season three finale hinted at Silver’s return when flashbacks revealed Kreese saving Silver’s life while held captive during the Vietnam war. Later in the finale, Kreese is seen looking at a photo of Silver as he speaks to an old friend on the phone.
Cobra Kai takes place 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. It continued the rivalry between Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). That conflict between the two iconic characters from 80s pop-culture may have come to an end in season 3. Both will now have to deal with Kreese and Silver.
The hit Netflix show also stars Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Courtney Henggeler, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Mary Mouser, Peyton List, Dallas Dupree Young, Oona O’Brie, with Thomas Ian Griffith joining Cobra Kai season 4. Wiliam Zabka and Ralph Macchio also serve as executive producers.
Will we see Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) make his return? Hopefully, we get to see more Karate Kid characters come back for the upcoming season of Cobra Kai.
There is no official release date for season 4.
