Captain America makes his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2025. On Thursday morning, Marvel Studios released the Captain America: Brave New World teaser trailer—the next live action film in the MCU’s Phase 5.
Captain America: Brave New World focuses on Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). He took up the mantle of Captain America during the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+. In Brave New World, which is technically the fourth Captain America film, will follow Sam on his first cinematic solo journey as Captain America and face new (or old) challenges.
“It kind of brought my Marvel experience full circle because we shot in D.C. at the same hotel that we shot ‘Winter Soldier’ at,” Mackie said about Brave New World during a previous interview with The Wrap. “One of my first Marvel scenes was me sitting at a table talking to the senator and me and Chris [Evans] and Scarlett [Johansson] kidnapping him and we go back and we stay at the same hotel and we shot at that same area. So in that regard, it was really emotional to think how far my character has come and where he is now after the 10 years that I’ve been in the MCU.”
Captain America: Brave New World Cast
Captain America: Brave New World cast also includes Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres aka the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns / The Leader, Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Ross was recast after the death of William Hurt), Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Shira Haas as Sabra. Xosha Roquemore, Rosa Salazar, and Giancarlo Esposito have been cast in currently-unknown roles. Esposito was just recently added to the film in reshoots.
Captain America: Brave New World is directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox, Luce). The script comes from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman along with Dalan Musson and Matthew Orton.
